Abstract

The acronym VUCA for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity typifies the contemporary environment in business. Though the term is increasingly being used, there is no standard definition of VUCA. Both academic and practioner literature on VUCA are also sparse. This conceptual study examines the relationship between transformational leadership and managing VUCA. The study develops a definition of VUCA and makes propositions to further examine the relationship between the variable of transformational leadership and variables related to managing VUCA.
