Abstract
Rcently, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Chairman Kiran Karnik said that while unemployed gradutes abound, those with the right training and skill sets are scarce and are chased by recruitment agencies. He has stated that the average quality of education has declined and is of abysmal quality. The Information Technology (IT) industry currently employs 1.3 million people. He further said that "Sadly, of the large number of engineering and other graduates being churned out every year, only ten per cent are employable in the IT industry. Most are unsuitable because of a lack of soft skills, particularly communication skills, which are essential for industries like information technology."
