Abstract
The Student Managed Investment Course (“SMIC”) encompasses the broad concepts of Valuation of Securities, Portfolio Management, Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis and provides a platform to apply these concepts in a real time manner in the Indian Equity Stock Markets. While the standard Investment Management course teaches the nuances of stock selection and portfolio management, SMIC provides a hands-on experience of managing the entire process, hence taking the learning to the next level. As a part of this course, a group of 6 members were given Rs. 25,000/- each, a sum total of Rs. 1, 50, 000/- to invest in the Indian Equity Stock Market. As a team, we make investment decisions to invest in the BSE/NSE listed companies with a minimum Market Capitalization of 300 crores. One person from the team plays the role of a Portfolio Manager and the others take the role of Research Analyst’s pertaining to various industries/ sectors.
