Abstract

Student Managed Investment Course (SMIC) is a credit course in final term for PGDMBKFS students of T. A Pai Management Institute, Manipal (TAPMI). The course is a unique, one-of-a-kind course in the country that goes beyond the realm of simulation. TAPMI provides each SMIC team a total sum of INR 1,50,000 to invest into the markets. This highly competitive course facilitates learning that is beyond classroom teaching and lays a foundation for finance students to step into the world of investments. This experiential learning makes students apply concepts such as valuation and portfolio management in practice taking their understanding of these concepts to the next level.
