Abstract
The Student Investment Course comprises of converting our theoretical knowledge into practical. There are various concepts that we have learnt in our subjects like corporate financing, security valuation, value investing, etc. with our objective being applying all the knowledge gained to the Indian Stock Market, and hence, we were provided with this opportunity by SMIC. Through all the above courses, we learnt how to select the stock on the basis of fundamentals (key accounting ratios specific to the industry), what is beta, diversification, developing a portfolio, optimizing it, how is value observed in various stocks. As a team of analysts and investors, we were given the chance of managing INR 150000 in a professional manner, dividing the amount amongst the group members totalling to 25000 each. Moreover, this course was not just about investing but also about assuming accountability. Like every other fund, we chose a Portfolio Manager, Mr. Ashish Agarwal, whose responsibility was to discuss and make decisions on behalf of the team and look into the performance of the fund with the key objective of maximizing the profits.
