Abstract
Team Straddle Capital followed an investment philosophy of achieving capital appreciation through investing in fundamentally strong businesses with good growth opportunities and quality management, supported by technical indicators. We were given a corpus of Rs.1,50,000 of which a maximum of 20% could be invested in liquid funds. We had a time horizon of 19 weeks, from 25th October, 2019 to 6th March, 2020. We began by creating an investment philosophy for the team that would act as the primary basis on which we would select our investments. Post this we performed a detailed analysis on the global and the Indian economy and looked at the factors that would affect the Indian stock market. After we had built an outlook towards the market, we focused on sector selections based on the past performance of the sectors across 1 month, 3 month, 1 year, 3 year, 5 year and 10 year time horizons. Within each sector we then analysed the stocks that had the best fundamental parameters and came to our final stock selection.
