Abstract

"A nation may make a Constitution, but a Constitution cannot make a nation". No Constitution, written or unwritten, is 'worth more than what the political temper of the community allows it to be worth'. The political structure and system under the Indian Constitution envisages a federal democratic form of government based on the values of Rule of Law, Republicanism and Social Justice. It provides a framework for the attainments of its social and economic goals. It envisages a State-centric welfare Government. Fundamental Rights and the Directive Principles are the conscience of the Constitution. The Constitution promises a peaceful social revolution.
