Abstract

In the twenty-first century, Gene Revolution has metamorphosed the agriculture sector with new plant varieties and terminator seed technology. The MNCs who fund the R&D, in bio-tech research, pressurize the developed countries to frame trade agreements with other nations conducive to recouping profitable return on investments. Thus, WTO and other agreements reflect the concerns of MNCs of developed countries. And, India has through “international-trade-agreements-compliant” laws pledged our food sovereignty, farmers’ needs, traditional knowledge, and ecological diversity by legalizing bio-piracy and promoting corporatization of agriculture at the altar of corporate greed.
