Abstract
The Student Managed Investment Course (SMIC) is part of the finance curriculum in TAPMI. The course aims at facilitating experiential learning by allowing students to invest and make decisions over a defined time horizon on stocks of publicly traded companies. This enables the students to achieve an in-depth functioning of the financial markets and institutes. The Team Fortune Investors is a six-member team comprising of students from the PGDM course with Finance as their major domain of graduation. The team was granted a corpus of INR 1,50,000.0 to invest in common equity over a defined time horizon of approximately 16 weeks. The course guideline restricted the investments to solely common equity and no other forms of investments were permitted. The course demanded for 85.0 percent of the total corpus to be invested at any given point of time. The investments were eventually liquated and the funds were returned to the institute.
